Rhapsodie Lyrique

A dramatic and lyrical show piece for violin and piano.

The Rhapsodie Lyrique was commissioned by the outstanding Toronto violinist Conrad Chow. We worked together to create a piece that would show off Conrad's wonderful dramatic flair and lyricism. Great sensitivity and a flexible feel for the ebb and flow of the music are required of the performers. The french title hints at the composition's stylistic influence due to Maurice Ravel. The piano part is filled with glittering arpeggios making for considerable demands on both performers.
