A colourful waltz-setting of the French carol for symphony orchestra
With this new arrangement, originally commissioned by the Mississauga Symphony, we find the traditional French Christmas
carol Un flambeau transformed into a lively waltz. I was inspired by the French orchestral colours of Maurice
Ravel with stylistic leaves borrowed from the book of the Viennese waltz king, Johann Strauss, Jr. to present
the carol in a fresh, novel light.
